About the Instruction Manual

This instruction manual is designed to compliment the general intuitive design of the artHIVES editing system. Advanced users may find little reason to consult this manual, however it is recommended that all users read the Troubleshooting section.

Known Issue with Internet Explorer

There are some known issues with recent versions of Internet Explorer when using the Rich Text Editors. These issues are not limited to artHIVES. The following browsers are recommended and can be downloaded for free:

Google Chrome
Google Chrome
https://www.google.com/chrome

Firefox

I tried to log in, but instead of going into my back office the artHIVES home page appears.

You must have Cookies enabled for artHIVES to work correctly.

Please be aware that different browsers require a different path of action, however the primary goal is to
1. adjust your Security / Privacy level and
2. to enable your computer to accept "Cookies".

Why do I get an error message when I try to upload and image to my site?

The most likely cause for this is because the title of the .jpeg or .gif file you are uploading contains an incompatible character like a forward slash or a comma. File names should only contain alphanumeric, hyphen or under score characters only.Try changing the file name and uploading again.

I can't change my homepage image

After uploading a new homepage image you will need to refresh or reload your browser window to see the latest version of your homepage. The reason you can't see the changes to your homepage is because your browser caches your homepage image on your computer for speed and efficiency.

Mac users can use use the keyboard shortcut "command + R" or use the Refresh Button Refresh Button symbol located in your browser address bar or menu bar.

PC users can try one of the following methods:
Right Click on your screen and inside the pop-up menu choose "Reload" or,
press your F5 key or,
from the menu, select "View" and select "Reload" or,
press+ R or,
click on the reload button

I have activated my website, however it is not being found by google, what can I do?

Google does a web crawl periodically after which time your site will start to appear in their search results. We have found that this could take a couple of months, however it could happen tomorrow. You can submit a site to google, but this is really unnecessary because artHIVES is already known to the google web crawler - and therefore your site should be found during the next web crawl.
